Sandhead is a beautiful stretch of sandy beach near Stranraer. It is quite a sheltered beach and with its handy car parking, picnic tables and dog friendly status, it’s the perfect place for a picnic, a seaside stroll and a paddle.
Luce bay is designated a Special Area for Conservation for its dune, seashore and seabed habitats and the fantastic marine wildlife it supports.
Sandhead has a hotel within the village to cater for your needs from a snack to a full meal.
For those with an interest in history, the Kirkmadrine Stones which are thought to date back to the 5th or 6th century are also nearby.
The Mull of Galloway Trail passes through Sandhead on its way from Stranraer to the Mull itself and makes a delightful walk in either direction.
