Did you know about the Armstrong connection with Langholm - Walkers are Welcome and the Clan Armstrong Centre at Gilbockie Tower?'We Came In Peace For All Mankind' - 50th Anniversary of The Moon Landings. To mark this special weekend, we took at trip to glorious Gilnockie Tower, seat of the #ClanArmstrong. It was in March 1972, that Neil Armstrong, first man to walk on The Moon, visited Gilnockie, having been made the first Freeman of Langholm.

There was a fantastic display for visitors to enjoy, featuring everything from historic letters and newspapers to a replica footprint and even Lunar Tartan!

We were much impressed with the newly opened walkway around the roof of Gilnockie, especially stepping over the stone threshold that Armstrong once looked out from.

A brilliant day out and the celebrations continue tomorrow! Visit Gilnockie Tower Reiver Centre on it's 500th birthday weekend, and support this wonderful historic attraction!

Congratulations to Ian Martin and his team for their hard work and dedication, wishing Gilnockie a super happy birthday! :)
