"The staff were relaxed and friendly from the moment we arrived and the restaurant had a nice ambience. The scallops were about the best we’ve ever had and both mains, lamb and a beef duo, were expertly prepared with quality ingredients. A good variety of wines was available as well as some tempting desserts and cheeses. There were quite a few whiskies at the bar although I thought this could have been expanded further as three of my favourites weren’t represented. Wouldn’t hesitate to recommend the Selkirk as the quality of the meal was as good as, if not better than, some we’ve had in five star hotels. We liked it so much we returned for a light lunch the next day."
