Barstobrick holiday lodges are situated on a dairy farm run by the Austin family. Onsite there is a coffee shop, walking trails and a horse riding centre. Offering free WiFi and stunning countryside views, Barstobrick Holiday lodges are centrally located, near the small village of Ringford, perfect as a base to explore beautiful Dumfries and Galloway.

The Pond Lodges, our new development for 2021, have a king-sized bed, small kitchen and shower room. Each lodge is equipped with a smart tv, soft seats inside as well as outdoor dining table and chairs on the deck overlooking the ponds and rolling Galloway hills. Queenshill lodges offer more spacious accommodation for up to 4 people. They are pet friendly and their peaceful and tranquil location make them perfect for a relaxing escape. The lodges back onto the walled garden which is open to be explored all year.

Arrange for a breakfast hamper to be delivered to your lodge (additional charge) or enjoy a full Scottish breakfast in our coffee shop, 30 minutes walk from Queenshill lodges or 2 minutes by car and only a few hundred metres from the pond lodges.  Additionally, local produce and BBQ hampers are available to be pre-ordered in advance of your stay.

There are several walking trails to join right outside your lodge where maps are provided. The clue sheet for the Galloway Faerie Trail is on sale in the coffee shop. There is also a horse-riding centre on site with lessons or treks to suit all ages and abilities (booking is advised).

Picturesque Kirkcudbright, known as the ‘Artist’s town’, is just six miles away where you will find a supermarket for supplies and many cafés, restaurants and shops open when safe to do so.

Dumfries is 25.2 miles from Barstobrick, while Cairnryan (Irish ferry port) is 53.4 miles away. Glasgow Prestwick Airport is 55.9 miles away.

Just 2 miles from the A75 at Ringford nestled in the heart of Red Kite country you’ll find Barstobrick boasting a coffee shop and several way marked walking trails including the Galloway Faerie Trail. Also onsite is a horse riding centre offering lessons and treks for all ages and abilities. We invite you to explore our beautiful Galloway countryside by foot, bike or on horseback

Our coffee shop is open Wednesday – Sunday, 10am-4pm, serving breakfast, lunch, tea, coffee and delicious home baking. Maps and clue sheets for our walking trails can also be purchased here.




      Galloway Faerie Trail, Hot Blast Trail and Ridge Trail


Explore the enchanted countryside on the Galloway Faerie Trail. This magical 1.1km walk is suitable for the young and the young at heart. The accessible paths take you on a journey through the world of faeries while you solve clues to help uncover the mystery of the missing faerie dust. Clue sheets can can be purchased from the coffee shop at £3/child over 3.

The Hot Blast Trail (5.5km) and the Ridge Trail (2.2km) take you further afield to learn about the history at Bartsobrick and neighbouring Queenshill. Spot some local wildlife, including the Red Kite who like to soar through the skies above Neilson’s monumnet and learn about the dairy farming activities carried out here by the Austin family. Maps for these trails are also available in the coffee shop.




At Barstobrick riding centre we have horses and ponies suitable for all ages and abilities. We offer half hour – two hour off road treks around our 650 acre estate as well as lessons in our indoor and outdoor arena’s. Fully licensed and insured. Barstobrick Riding Centre | Dumfries & Galloway

The lodges at Queenshill (left above) are pet friendly and offer accommodation for up to 4 while our new development at The Pond are more compact with a king sized bed small kitchen and shower room.
