East Kirkland Farm is situated on the edge of the Solway Firth, overlooking Wigtown Bay and the magnificent Galloway hills beyond. The cottages are within easy reach of the small town of Wigtown, proud to call itself Scotland’s National Book Town.  With its numerous second hand book shops, choice of cafes and restaurants and a selection of delightful craft/antique shops, there’s plenty for you to enjoy.

Courtyard Holiday Cottages offer comfortable, self-catering accommodation arranged around a small courtyard, with owner accommodation on site.  Cottages sleep from 3 to 6 people and can be booked individually or as a whole (sleeping up to 19 people) for family gatherings/special occasions.  We boast a fantastic heated indoor pool (open April to end Oct), a selection of bicycles for guests to use, drying room, dvd and games library, play park with swings and a games barn for those rainy days.  Well behaved pets are welcome!

With its beautiful beaches, historical sites, forest parks, gardens and numerous other visitor attractions, Wigtownshire is an ideal location for walking , cycling, fishing, golfing or sight seeing.

Corsewall Lighthouse Hotel

 

This very unique  hotel and restaurant delights everyone who has the good fortune to stay or dine here. It has the charm and romance of an 1815 functioning lighthouse with the comforts of a small very unique  hotel and restaurant.

Some of Scotland’s most spectacular coastline is found within and nearby the 20 acre grounds of Corsewall Light House Hotel. The lighthouse galleries and public areas afford fine views of the Kintyre Peninsula, Arran, the Firth of Clyde, Ailsa Craig and even the coast of Ireland. The Iron Age fort of Dunskirkloch is found here. A wide variety of flora, abundant sea life, seals, birds and even deer can be viewed from here. On a clear night, the beams of several Scottish and Irish lighthouses can be seen.

Cool Licks and Hot Drinks can be found by the beach at Port Logan. We started Cool Licks and Hot Drinks after we heard the laments of the visitors to the beautiful village. We serve ice cream, cakes, hot drinks and cold drinks. We’d love to see you!

5 * Logan Botanic Garden is Scotland’s Most Exotic Garden and hosts plant treasures from the southern hemisphere – rarely seen in the UK. Situated at the south-western tip of Scotland, Logan Botanic Garden is an exotic paradise tucked away amidst some of the most majestic scenery the country has to offer.

We are happy to announce that Logan Botanic Garden will re-open on Easter Monday, 5th April 2021, for local outdoor recreation and exercise. Before your visit, please make sure you are following the Scottish Government’s guidelines on group size and travel. The Garden will be open from 10am-5pm. The Potting Shed Bistro will be open to garden visitors from 11am-3.30pm, operating a take away service only.

Visitors can walk through groves of eucalyptus and palm trees or stand in the shade of awesome giant rhubarb-like Gunnera and from the highest point, there are superb views across the Rhins to the Galloway Hills.

Famed for its tender collections, Logan’s Walled Garden is a showcase for brilliant blooms and is ablaze with colour throughout the season. The fishpond, adorned with water lilies, creates a focal point and embellishes the air of tranquillity within the Garden.

Warmed by the Gulf Stream, the climate provides the ideal growing conditions for an amazing collection of southern hemisphere plants.

The Woodland Garden is also a delight. It is a haven for a host of weird and wonderful plants and trees such as eucalyptus to the Gunnera bog.

The Discovery Centre, situated near to the main entrance, gives visitors the chance to learn more about the Garden and its history. The studio hosts various exhibitions throughout the year.

Scotland’s most exotic garden never fails to impress whatever the time of year.

Refreshments

The wonderful Potting Shed Bistro was Dumfries & Galloway Life’s “Cafe of the Year” 2015 and is open daily to Garden visitors* between 1 March and 15 November from 10am – 4.30pm (3.30pm in November). It serves tasty lunches, light snacks and delicious home baking using the finest local ingredients and has ample outside and inside seating.

Family Activities

We have a selection of family activities on during the summer and autumn holidays. Activities take place on Thursday afternoons and are free with normal garden entry. We also have other activities in conjunction with the RSPB at selected times throughout the summer holidays. The Botanics Shop has a fantastic selection of local crafts, gifts and plants, some of which can be seen growing in the Garden and indeed have been grown at Logan. Logan collected seeds are available for sale.

This traditional fisherman’s cottage is now completely refurbished making your holiday in Scotland comfortable and welcoming.

The cottage has two double bedrooms, one en-suite, and a third bedroom with adult style bunk beds, sleeping a family of six. You will find a welcome pack on arrival with tea, coffee, sugar and milk in the fridge, there’s nothing better than a cuppa after your journey. The open-plan living area at Rosebank Holiday Cottage overlooks the garden to the rear of the cottage.  The living area has comfortable leather sofas, modern furnishings, a family sized dining table and Free-view TV and DVD. There are books and games and a wealth of tourist and local information to help you plan your days out. Rosebank is centrally heated and we provide unlimited WIFI broadband.

Bedrooms at Rosebank

At Rosebank we provide hotel quality duvets, pillows and Egyptian cotton towels, one bath sheet and a bath towel are provided per guest. We provide hand towels and hand soap in the bathrooms. There are two double bedrooms with neutral decor and comfortable furnishings. One of the double bedrooms has its own en-suite bathroom with shower cubicle, WC and hand wash basin. The third bedroom has adult style bunk beds and is perfect for children. We provide a hairdryer and clock radios too. For younger guests we can provide a high chair(s) and travel cot(s).

Your holiday home garden

Outside, to the rear of Rosebank is a large secluded garden on two levels accessed directly from the living area. Our large garden is safe, secure and secluded and is perfect for pets and children. There are steps to the top level with a picnic table and benches. Here you can enjoy a wonderful view of the sea and Port Logan Lighthouse. With a glass of wine, the fresh sea air you can relax and watch the sun setting over the sea – just what holidays are all about. There’s a useful, secure outhouse where you can store sporting equipment and clothing and you can bathe sandy dogs after a fun day on the beach. You will also find a freezer and a washing machine in the outhouse and we have facilities for outdoor drying of laundry. There is private off-road parking to the front of Rosebank and the beach is just yards away from the front door.

The Tigh Na Mara Hotel is situated in Sandhead village on the shores of Luce Bay. The hotel is within arms length of a beautiful clean stretch of sandy beach, boasting breathtaking views across the bay.

The hotel offers eight en-suite rooms, maintained to a very good standard, with four located within the hotel and the others situated in the former cottages, joined onto the hotel. Every room has tea and coffee making facilities, colour television and irons and hair dryers are available on request. Pets are welcome in certain rooms and all of our rooms are non smoking. Fibre broadband is available throughout the hotel accommodation.

At the Tigh Na Mara hotel and restaurant we take great pride in the quality of the cuisine we offer. We utilise Scotland’s abundance of fine produce such as superb beef and lamb, fresh seafood and rich game combined with a vast selection of ingredients drawn from around the globe. Lunch in the restaurant is served between 12-2pm.  The full A La Carte menu is available during this time or if you require a lighter bite why not choose from our selection of sandwiches, served with a hearty bowl of home-made soup. Dinner is served between 5pm-8.30pm and booking is highly recommended to avoid disappointment. To begin, build up an appetite by sampling on of our starter dishes such as local smoked haddock wrapped on filo pastry and set upon a dill cream sauce or perhaps our strips of chicken and mushrooms accompanied with brioche bread and a creamy white wine sauce. For meat lovers we offer a wide variety of steaks, cooked on our char grill and fresh seafood is available from our weekly changing specials, which vary depending on the seasonality of the produce.  All menus can be downloaded from our website.

 

The hotel has a public bar where you can socialise with the locals, perhaps play some pool on our games room or simply relax with a dram, beside our warm and inviting log fire. During the summer months our beer garden is also popular, situated at the back of the hotel. We have also introduced dog friendly outdoor pods in our beer garden which are heated also in the colder months.

For the more active, why not experience the spectacular scenery of the Galloway Forest by foot, wander around one of the many stunning gardens, such as the award winning Royal Botanic Gardens, near Port Logan, or play a round of golf at one of four excellent local courses.
