Welcome to Kilfillan Holiday Cottage, Garlieston, Dumfries and Galloway in south-west Scotland.

Kilfillan offers the perfect base for exploring this beautiful corner of Galloway, with miles of spectacular coastline, woodland walks, stunning hills and forests and a varied range of visitor attractions.

First-class accommodation in the former Millisle Railway Station

Kilfillan Cottage provides the perfect self-catering holiday accommodation in the heart of Galloway, south-west Scotland.

The cottage itself is the former Millisle railway station which was closed to passengers in 1950. It is surrounded by beautiful unspoilt countryside and is close to a number of visitor attractions.

The cottage has two bedrooms, one with a double bed and the other with brand new quality solid oak twin beds and memory foam mattresses for a really comfortable night’s sleep.  A travel cot is also available.

The spacious, well equipped-kitchen has a dining table. There is also a separate utility / laundry room.

The living room features a wood-burning stove and flat screen TV with French doors out into the well-maintained garden.

There is a family bathroom with bath and shower. The cottage is on one level, so is ideal for anyone with mobility issues or disabilities, although assistance may be required.

And we are striving to be as environmentally friendly as possible with our own solar panels and biomass boiler.

Never heard of Whithorn? It’s a marvelous little town, situated in The Machars and Dumfries and Galloway’s first city.

OK, I can hear you shouting, ‘Where on earth is The Machars?…..’

The Machars are an area of Wigtownshire, and before you ask, Wigtownshire is in Dumfries and Galloway, South West Scotland.

East Kirkland Farm

 

 

East Kirkland Farm is situated on the edge of the Solway Firth, overlooking Wigtown Bay and the magnificent Galloway hills beyond. The cottages are within easy reach of the small town of Wigtown, proud to call itself Scotland’s National Book Town.  With its numerous second hand book shops, choice of cafes and restaurants and a selection of delightful craft/antique shops, there’s plenty for you to enjoy.

Courtyard Holiday Cottages offer comfortable, self-catering accommodation arranged around a small courtyard, with owner accommodation on site.  Cottages sleep from 3 to 6 people and can be booked individually or as a whole (sleeping up to 19 people) for family gatherings/special occasions.  We boast a fantastic heated indoor pool (open April to end Oct), a selection of bicycles for guests to use, drying room, dvd and games library, play park with swings and a games barn for those rainy days.  Well behaved pets are welcome!

With its beautiful beaches, historical sites, forest parks, gardens and numerous other visitor attractions, Wigtownshire is an ideal location for walking , cycling, fishing, golfing or sight seeing.

 

 

 

The Riverbank Cafe

 

 

The Riverbank Cafe is a popular venue for visitors and locals alike who just love the fresh baking, excellent coffee, paninis, toasties, salads, burgers, breakfast, soup, desserts, sandwiches and children’s menu.

                                                            

Much of the produce used in The Riverbank Cafe is sourced from the Dumfries and Galloway region such as their cheese, pork and smoked produce.

 

The Riverbank Cafe is located next to the main car park in Newton Stewart and there is plenty of public parking as well as some private, more secure spaces provided behind the cafe.

Number 7 Ninian’s Landing

Number 7 Ninian’s Landing is a stylish one bedroom first floor apartment for 1 or 2 people located on the harbourside in the Isle of Whithorn. The holiday accommodation is located in the heart of the village with a spectacular sea view overlooking the attractive harbour.

The Isle of Whithorn is one of Scotland’s most Southerly villages and from the village there are spectacular sea views across towards to Kirkcudbright, Cumbria and the Isle of Man.

Self-catering holiday in the Isle of Whithorn

Number 7 Ninian’s Landing is a stylish first floor apartment sleeping 1 or 2 guests with a fabulous sea view across the harbour. The apartment building stands on the site of a former fisherman’s warehouse and there is a nautical theme throughout the building.

Number 7 has an open plan living, dining and kitchen area, fully fitted kitchen and comfortable furnishings. The kitchen has everything you need for a perfect self-catering holiday:

The living area has a comfortable furnishings, flat screen TV, DVD player, Freesat, Amazon Firestick and unlimited Wifi. There are guide books and tourist information to help you plan your day trips and holiday activities.

The bathroom has a bath with an electric shower over the bath, heated towel rail, hand wash basin and WC. A fluffy bath sheet and hand towel are provided for each guest together with a bath mat. Complimentary hair and body wash is provided.

The EPC rating is band C.

The spacious double bedroom has a king size bed,  built in wardrobes and hotel quality bed linen is provided. There is a sea view from the bedroom and a view of the Isle of Whithorn Tower on the headland, which is an aid to navigation.

Outside at Number 7 there is a private courtyard with a designated parking space and lots of walks from the doorstep.

Isle of Whithorn

The Isle of Whithorn is one of Scotland’s most Southerly villages. There is an award winning CAMRA pub in the village with its own microbrewery. The Steam Packet serves delicious lunch and dinner using the finest of local produce and dogs are welcome in the bar. There are tables on the harbourside for lunch, dinner or refreshments outside to enjoy the views. St Ninian’s Tearoom is a short walk from Number 7 and here you can enjoy breakfast, lunch, dinner or afternoon tea by the sea. The shop inside the tearoom has a Post Office and sells all the essentials you might need for your holiday.

There are lots of walks from the doorstep and lots of places to visit and attractions nearby. Scotland’s Book Town, Wigtown, is a short drive away from Number 7.
