Annan Museum

Annan Museum

A family friendly museum housing a permanent exhibition on the history of Annan and the surrounding area. A fascinating journey through time takes visitors from the prehistoric period up to the era of nuclear fission. Displays include costume, First World War memorabilia, town regalia and a remarkable collection of paintings depicting Annan and the Solway shore. Look out for a 4000 year old Bronze Age burial urn, mummified baby crocodiles and the 110 year old piece of chocolate!

The museum also hosts a lively programme of special exhibitions and events throughout the season, together with visitor information and a shop stocking pocket money buys as well as local history books and greetings cards by local artists.

Accessibility: There is level access from the street into the ground floor exhibition gallery of Annan Museum and lift access to the first floor local history gallery. A ramp gives access to a disabled toilet and further public toilets are available in the street parallel to the museum.

There are 23 golf clubs that are members of the South of Scotland Golfers Association. Courses range from wee 9 hole courses in the picturesque Galloway hills to magnificent 18 hole links round the extensive coastline. Green fees range from as little as little as £10 in winter up to £60 for Southerness. Great value is to be had on courses to suit all tastes and abilities.

Visit South of Scotland Golf for a comprehensive details of all courses at www.southofscotlandgolf.com

You’ll find us at Newbie, two miles from the nearby market town of Annan in beautiful Dumfries & Galloway, and less than 25 miles from Carlisle.

Coarse fishing is a growing sporting activity in Scotland, and we have 9 fully stocked lakes here at Broom Fisheries, including a purpose built canal, that make us famous for the quality and variety of course fishing that we offer, attracting keen anglers for leisure and competition fishing alike.

We are hoping that by providing a range of excellent facilities to visitors and tourists, Broom Fisheries will continue to build on the hard work of Scotland’s coarse fishing community and increase interest in coarse angling across Scotland and the rest of the UK.

Welcome to Annandale Distillery and Visitor Centre

Established in 1836, we’re one of Scotland’s oldest operating distilleries.

Located close to the Scotland-England border, we’re also the first (and last) distillery in Scotland.

Whilst in the ownership of the famous Johnnie Walker, Annandale Distillery closed in 1918, seemingly forever.

Not so!

Rescued by David Thomson & Teresa Church in 2007, this once derelict distillery sprang back into life on November 3rd, 2014
Three years later, on Wednesday November 15th, 2017, we filled the first ‘new era’ bottle of Annandale Single Malt Scotch Whisky.

It’s a beautiful place! Come and visit us, take a tour, sip our stunning peated and unpeated whiskies and taste our delicious food. We promise you a warm Scottish welcome.
Whisky by the nip, the bottle or the barrel.
