  • The Swallow Theatre 2021

    The Swallow Theatre 2021

The Swallow Theatre is temporarily closed.

We are watching for confirmation from the Scottish Government as to when live performance events will be allowed to restart, and the capacity constraints that will apply.

We are currently working on tentative plans to re-open in summer 2021.

In the meantime we are working on improvements to the theatre building, the foyer/bar area and the performers’ accommodation.

We will be back and are really looking forward to the time when we can welcome performers and audiences here once again.

Please sign up for our email newsletters and be one of the first to know when shows restart. Follow us on Facebook, https://www.facebook.com/SwallowTheatre

THE SWALLOW THEATRE WILL TEMPORARILY CLOSE and we are working with performers to reschedule shows.

We have to follow government guidance and we intend to play our part in controlling the spread of coronavirus and therefore we are sadly going to temporarily close The Swallow Theatre until we are told it is safe to re-open.

    NEW DATE

Newton Stewart & Minnigaff Traditional Music and Dance Festival 2021

It is with a very heavy heart indeed,  that we announce the cancellation of this year’s event. 2020

We have been regularly monitoring the information and advice from the NHS, Scottish and UK governments and, as difficult as that has been at times, what remains our utmost priority is the health and safety of our staff, volunteers, artists & crew, audiences and local communities.

With many people expected to travel to the region for the festival this year, and with no way of predicting the course of Covid-19 over the coming months, it was felt that we simply couldn’t risk running the event in early July nor would it be possible to accurately predict an alternative date this year.

If you have already booked tickets for this year’s festival, you should have already received an e-mail detailing how you can apply for a full refund.  Alternatively, all tickets purchased for this year will be valid for next year’s event.

The 7th annual Newton Stewart & Minnigaff Traditional Music & Dance Festival will take place over 9th – 11th July 2021 and, after another outstanding programme of events in 2019 which saw us hosting Scottish Highland Dancing competitions and, as ever, some of the biggest names in traditional music, it looks set to be another packed programme and is really living up to it’s reputation as one of the best rural arts festivals in Dumfries & Galloway.

Weekend Passes are now on sale for 2021

    Dumfries and Galloway Arts Festival

    Arts Festival  16th – 25th July 2021

    Arts Live – Year Round

    THE 2021 FESTIVAL WILL RUN FROM 16th – 25th July 2021

Our aim in 2021 is to reconnect with local artists, audiences and our performing arts network, creating lasting connections after a long and difficult period of isolation. With a safe, interactive programme across the region our refreshed Festival plan takes us forward into the heart of Dumfries & Galloway communities, in a way that is more inclusive and diverse than ever before.

The plan is entirely new for 2021, with a blended and adaptable mix of live, outdoor socially distanced performances by local artists in their own communities and a D&G Digital Arts Festival with artists from across Scotland, it is hoped that focusing on events that can be organised in a safe format will build the regions confidence to attend live events once more.
