About Ayrshire Railway Preservation Group

The Doon Valley Railway is a 'living museum'.  Here unique and historically significant industrial steam and diesel locomotives are restored and can be seen working in an authentic setting.

Travel behind one of our restored steam engines along a short section of track.

Don't forget to visit the Signal Box Cafe when you are here.
Visitors can travel behind our industrial steam and diesel locomotives on the former NCB line along the beautiful Doon Valley, enjoy light snacks in our Signal Box café and see numerous pieces of rolling stock from a variety of industries.
Open Days

● April 18th Easter Monday - Easter egg hunt

● May: Sunday 1st and Sunday 29th

● June: Sunday 19th and Sunday 26th

● July: Sundays 3rd, 10th, 17th, 24th and 31st

● Aug: Sundays 7th, 14th, 21st and 28th

● Sep: Sundays 4th, 11th, 18th and 25th



The Fireless steam locomotive will be in steam on the last Sunday of June, July and August.



***All passenger trains will be steam hauled SUBJECT TO LOCOMOTIVE AVAILABILITY***



In the event our steam locomotive is unavailable services will be hauled by one of our heritage diesel locomotives.
