Award-winning Abbey Cottage Tearoom is open every day. The kitchen in this family-owned business is busy from early morning producing home-cooked food. The scones are first into the oven, while a couple of homemade soups are prepared for lunch and there is always plenty of home baking for Afternoon Teas.
The menu features great local produce and many of the region’s finest ingredients, as well as fruit and salad from the family’s own gardens.
The Tearoom staff have good knowledge of gluten-free, lactose-free and vegan diets (from personal experience) and will be happy to help you choose something suitable from the main or special dietary menus.
The garden overlooks Sweetheart Abbey, and it’s a popular spot with walkers, cyclists and four-legged friends.
New Abbey is an attractive and historic village, and Abbey Cottage Tearoom is situated right next to the ancient ruins of Sweetheart Abbey. Enjoy a leisurely stroll around the village and a visit to the New Abbey Corn Mill, or take a more energetic walk up to the Waterloo Monument or Criffel for great views of the village, the Nith estuary and the Lake District mountains across the Solway.
Just six miles from Dumfries on the South West Coastal 300.
