Motorbiking / Motoring

Dumfries and Galloway must be one of the best places in the country for motorcycling. The quiet network of roads make it an ideal palace for touring. You can stay in one place and take different rides each day or if you prefer stay in the East and then the West of the area. You also have easy access to the Lake District, The Borders and Northumberland. Many of the accommodation providers are “biker friendly” and some such as The Buccleuch Arms in Moffat provide extensive facilities for bikers.
If you wish to continue your travels North then consider using Arran or Bute as a means of avoiding major roads and travelling through Glasgow. Both islands are well worth a visit and can be used as a stepping stone to gain access to the Mull of Kintyre or Argyle.
