A Top Wee Shop at the Head of the Trails

Based at Drumlanrig Castle. We have hire bikes for all the family, great trails and a fantastic wee shop to help with whatever cycling need you might have.

Rik has been cycling for way too long and offroad for most of that. He has designed and built many of the trails on Drumlanrig Estate, including the technical red and black routes and has also worked on some of the best-loved bike trails around Scotland.

Here at Rik’s Bike Shed we are happy to offer advice to new and experienced riders about the the awesome trails here at Drumlanrig, bikes to buy or service or just to get you going again.

With many years off-road riding (and racing) under his helmet Rik can help you have a great days riding or some helpful and fun coaching sessions to help you ride with more fun, control and speed. We’re happy to get you tot onto pedals and have plenty of patience for older folks who’d like to learn.

Rik’s Bike Shed has a great selection of parts and accessories, along with cycling equipment and clothing for men, women and children. We stock Shimano and Sram drivetrain and brake spares along with a huge range of good quality and budget parts to upgrade or repair your trusty steed.

If you’re looking for a new bike, we are happy to help and advise. We stock Merida and Diamond Back and framsets from Stanton and Sanderson.

We always have second-hand bikes from the hire fleet or we can order a new bike to suit your needs.

We run a well-equipped workshop at Rik’s Bike Shed, staffed by Cytec qualified bike mechanics who can get you back on (or off!) the road.
In addition to repairs, if your bike is in need of a little TLC, then Rik’s Bike Shed offers bronze, silver or gold service packages to get your trusty or rusty steed pedalling like new again.
We’ll fix any bike; road, MTB, BMX, or utility; from fixing a puncture to building you a custom wheel, we’re happy to help.
We can often get your bike fixed while you get a brew at the Castle Tea Room.
From £5 for kids and £10 for an adult.

Bikes are available to hire on-site, working on a first come, first serve basis.  (We do have LOTS of bikes!)

If bikes required outside of opening hours contact Rik on 01848 330080, mobile 07722 828139 or email on mtbrik@aol.com.

  • Cycling, South West Scotland

    Cycling, South West Scotland

Our aim is to promote social cycling activity within Dumfries and Galloway. We ride all year round! Well mostly – only the most severe of weathers will put us off. We are a very sociable group, with rides taken at an easy pace (but we do pick up the pace too!) with frequent stops for “discovery” of some aspect of the natural and human history of Galloway. And the very important cafe stops. Wouldn’t be a sociable ride without a coffee and chat. All the rides start and end at an easy to find meeting point, such as a car park. It’s about getting a bit of exercise with added interest, not a furious “Tour de Galloway!”

We usually meet Sunday and Wednesday.  Starting from Sandhead, Glenluce (the bus stop AKA the Club Committee Room), Newton Stewart, Stranraer, Creetown.  We go where the best rides are!  Fantastic scenery, some fairly challenging climbs, great company.  What more can you ask for – well, the weather can be a bit unkind but we’re tough.

So come on, join us on one of our rides.
