  • Mossyard Farm Pottery

    Mossyard Farm Pottery

is a new paint it yourself studio based on Mossyard Farm, a working beef and sheep farm running 110 cows and 650 sheep. With beautiful views of Fleet bay and within two minutes walk of one of Scotland’s most picturesque beaches the studio itself can seat up to 16 people and is an ideal idea for children’s parties, groups, get together or to simply drop by and paint something unique as a keepsake or a gift to give to someone else.

    Ceramic Painting

Choose a piece of blank pottery from our large selection, paint and decorate your piece using stamps, sponges, shape tools and much much more! Take a look at our ideas book before choosing your brushes, tools and colours. It takes up to two hours to paint your pottery, and for groups we provide free tea, coffee and home baking. When you have completed your piece of pottery leave it with us to be glazed, and fired in the kiln ready for collection in 4 days time. If you’re not able to collect, we may be able to deliver locally, or we can arrange to post your pottery direct to your chosen address.

If you are in a rush or would just prefer to take something away on the day there are certain pieces of pottery such as figurines and money boxes that can be painted using acrylic paint allowing you to take it away as soon as it is dry. Please note that anything painted in acrylic paint is NOT food and dishwasher safe.

While you’re at Mossyard Farm Pottery, enjoy a picnic on our beautiful beach. Or the closest place for lunch is Laggan Outdoor Base Camp cafe, just a mile away.

Clay Hand and Foot Prints (and Paw Prints too…)

Imprints provide a wonderful keepsake to be treasured for years to come. We take an original impression of your baby or child’s hand and/or foot print in soft clay. After the imprint has been taken it needs to be left to dry out naturally taking up to two weeks before being fired in the kiln for the first time. It is then painted, glazed and re-fired in the kiln ready for collection. We can also take imprints of your dog’s paws. The total time from taking the imprint to collection is around 4 weeks. Prices start from £15, with options to have your imprint framed.

    Parties

Mossyard Farm Pottery is the perfect venue for children’s birthday parties. Come along to do some painting, we will decorate the studio for you to enjoy a painting party! Different party packages are available depending on your requirements.

  • Laggan Outdoor

    Laggan Outdoor

Laggan Outdoor  offer adventure and recreational experiences for all the family.

Set in the heart of Dumfries & Galloway, on the hills above the Solway coast, you really will struggle to find a more stunning location.

    The Zip Wire

The adventure starts from the second you arrive when you get harnessed up and then take the 10 minute off road journey to the top. It’s high, the road is bumpy, but the views are just breath taking.

Members of our team will then talk you through the procedure and then it’s launch time – get clipped in, safety checks will be carried out and then you’re off, hurling down hill at up to 30 metres above the ground at speeds of up to 45 mph. You’ll have the best view of the whole centre from up here, flying over the Mountain Balling track, Mountain Boarding track and thankfully missing the Clay Pigeon shooting ground!

Once at the bottom, you’ll be greeted by another friendly member of the team who will help you back down to solid ground. And if you’re mad enough, you can do it all again!

    Archery

Once you have had an initial indoor lesson with us, you can move on and tackle the Archery Range with real life 3D targets in the forest. Live like your ancestors and try and catch your food, taking on a bear, a wolf, a boar and a deer, but only heart shots will count in this exciting new archery range.

Given the unpredictable weather in Dumfries and Galloway, offers a great wet weather activity for the family.

    Segway

Lead by one of our experienced instructors, groups of up to 6 people will be taught all the techniques of how to ‘glide’ on the Segway over differing terrain.

The tour will have you navigating your Segway across hills and fields that sit high above the Solway coast. Try your nerve over various terrains and put your new found skills to the test. The views that you will experience will be some of the best in the region.

    Clay Pigeon Shooting

Never shot before? Not a problem.  With our in-house instructors, we’ll guide you through everything you need to know, including gun safety, master eye, holding the gun, aiming and hitting your first clay.  We’ll be right next to you all the time to give tips where required.

Shot before and hold your own certificate?  Great!  We can run sporting clay sessions for you or even a simulated game drive.

All you need to have a go is a minimum of 2 people some warm and padded clothing depending on the time of year and some sturdy footwear.

    Grass Sledging

Thanks to special tracks on the bottom of the sledges, these can travel just as fast as snow sledges and with steering & brakes you’ll be as safe as houses. Race against your friends or mum and dad.

We have 10 sledges available. You can just turn up and hire or call and book to avoid disappointment.

We offer a range of great packages if you wish to do more than one activity with us:

    • All Out Adventure: Zip wire, Water Balling and Segway Adventure Tour
    • Big Day Out: Zip wire, Water Balling, Segway Adventure tour, Clay Pigeon Shooting, Archery, Lunch & Tea, Coffee or juice on arrival

  • Cornmill Outdoor Activities

    Cornmill Outdoor Activities

The Cornmill offers an opportunity for a large range of outdoor activities including Canoeing, Kayaking, Sailing, Tuition, Boat Hire and various British Canoeing  RYA(Royal Yachting Association) dinghy, powerboat and safety boat courses for all who enjoy water sports.

The area is ideal for the perfect family holiday also offering a unique blend of relaxing pastimes such as fishing on the river Bladnoch to more energetic activities such as world class mountain biking on the nearby 7 Stanes at Kirroughtree. The 7 Stanes mountain bike trails attract bikers from all over the world with competitions held annually. There are visitor centres at each of these trails with facilities for parking and bike hire. You can even enjoy road biking on the scenic and traffic free roads around the Machar’s area of Dumfries and Galloway.

Time passes slowly here; Garlieston is the quietest of the old Scottish fishing villages. At first the only noise you will hear is the rush of water that used to power the wheel for the mill.
