Calm your mind, soothe your soul and reconnect yourself with nature!

Garroch Glen Woodland Retreats in Dumfries and Galloway – Scotlands best kept secret!

Authentic traditional Shepherds Huts are available to let on the beautiful Garroch Glen estate just a couple of miles from the popular village of St Johns Town of Dalry.

Located in the Galloway and Southern Ayrshire UNESCO biosphere, an area of south west Scotland  which has been recognised internationally as a world class place for people and nature. It rests beside the Southern Upland Way and on the edge of the Galloway Forest Park known for the Dark Skies and star gazing.

Enjoy a simple, relaxing off-grid, technology free and eco-friendly break staying in cosy shepherds huts surrounded by the unspoilt landscape and abundance of wildlife. Red squirrels, pine martins and roe deer to name a few.

All in the Garroch Glen, Glenlee Estate, St Johns Town of Dalry, Dumfries and Galloway.

Each hut with their own :

Woodburning stove

Double bed, with bedding and towels

Campfire

Table and chairs

Crockery

Compost toilet and warm gas shower on site (Please note! in extreme cold weather conditions shower may not be available)

These holiday breaks will bring you back to nature.  We want people to consider the impact that humans have on this earth, but also the impact of tourism too. Our huts have minimal impact on the land which we want to protect and preserve. We encourage guests to think about what they don`t need and can do without, then take those thoughts back home and apply them to everyday life.

There is no electricity, lighting, hairdryers, charging points or any fancy hot tubs. Just well equipped, traditional and cosy shepherds huts, each with their own campfire set in beautiful ancient woodland. We have a `leave no trace` policy and encourage guests to preserve water and take away any rubbish.

Our accommodation is perfect for walking the Southern uplands, visiting South West Scotland, cycling the Seven Stanes, star gazing in the Dark Sky Park and nature watching holidays. Calm your mind, soothe your soul and reconnect yourself with nature!

Shepherds Huts Scotland are proud Supporters of the Galloway and Southern Ayrshire Biosphere. We are committed to offering sustainable, environmentally friendly holiday breaks that protect our earth and the people who live here.
