Senwick Hideaways

The Secret Studio

Now taking Bookings for 2021 from £122 per night

Senwick hideaways is our latest venture on the farm and we couldn’t be more excited to share it with you!

Our luxury bothy,’The Secret Studio’, nestled against the beautiful bluebell wood of Senwick and set on the banks of our wee lochan. Here you can relax in the peaceful surroundings of the beautiful Galloway countryside on our traditional livestock farm and alpaca trekking centre.  Using sustainable building materials and solar powered electric we have worked with our architects to create a sustainable space which sits as one within its natural surroundings.  The studio has been designed to reflect our belief in working with nature but this does not mean that you have to compromise on the little luxuries! Curl up in from of our cosy log burner, enjoy a relaxing bath with its own private window onto the lochan or lie in our spacious custom made bed watching the stars through the secret sky light! Every detail has been thought of to make this a unique and exciting place to stay!

A bath with a view!

Unique to the area The Secret Studio includes a dedicated studio space (from which its name is derived) perfect for expression in arts, music and writing. Nearby Kirkcudbright is renowned as the ‘artists town’ what better place than this to ‘draw’ inspiration for your artistic endeavours?

Get creative in the studio space

Woodland and beach walks are but a stride away from your front door, within Senwick Wood, (walking boots recommended), hidden beaches, coves and caves are doted along our immediate coastline with hundreds more waiting to be explored along the solway coast!

Uniquely you can also join us for an alpaca trek on our farm to experience the wonder and warmth of our adorable alpacas first hand as you lead them through our beautiful countryside getting to know our curious and friendly alpacas as you go!

When the day draws to an end we experience the most glorious sunsets, followed by the inky skies located as we are, on the edge of the Dark Sky Park.

Reconnect with nature: The Secret Studio is located in a peaceful spot on the farm, a short walk away from the carpark space, you will need to bring wellies or boots and a torch for getting back after sunset!

These boots were made for walking…

Relax: The bathroom includes a flushing toilet, sink and a luxurious slipper  bath with views out to the lochan. All bed linen and towels are provided, along with blankets to snuggle into for colder days.

Switch-Off: There is NO Wi-Fi, mobile signal/4G depends on your carrier, but it is a better idea is to tell your colleagues that you are out of range and enjoy a digital detox– its good for your soul! Better than that we have is books, cards, games, and a radio to keep you entertained.

Coorie in and light the burner

Warm and Cosy: Fire up the wood burner, curl up on our lurvvve seat or get rocking on the rocker!  A basket full of logs and firelighters (for the less accomplished caveman is provided).

Cooking up a Storm: There is a small gas stove with kettle, caffetiere, expresso maker (if you need your morning shot!)  along with complimentary tea, coffee, hot chocolate and milk. We have a small fridge powered by our solar panels.  All the cooking utensils, pots and pans you would expect are  provided along with all dining equipment.. We are on mains water which being in Scotland is of course safe for drinking!

Cook up a storm in the kitchen

Lights Camera Action: USB charging sockets are provided that will power up any small devices that you might need via the solar panels along with low voltage lighting. If you have other essential equipment that needs charging we can arrange to do that for you off the mains supply at the farm. There are no mains plugs in the studio.

Sorry no pets as we are a working farm, please ask for details of local kennels who can accommodate your pets if needed.

Babies are welcome by arrangement and a travel cot can be provided.

Breakfast hampers, chocolate hampers, BBQ packs and a Cheese board are all available on request made up using the finest local Scottish produce, some of which were produced on the farm itself!

The Pheasants Nest  new for 2021

Set on our working farm this is simply an incredible place to unwind. Once you’ve walked through the grass paddock to where the Pheasants Nest sits you’re in a world of your own, with only sheep and other wildlife for company. With stunning panoramic views over to the Cumbrian coast and the Galloway Hills. There’s also plenty to explore beyond the the farm from beaches, coves, countryside walks and woodland to pretty Galloway towns and villages waiting to be enjoyed.

The space

The Pheasants Nest has been lovingly converted from an ex. shipping container and in keeping with our green ethos has been re-purposed to create a beautiful and unique space.

The interior is fresh and bright drawing inspiration from the flora and fauna in the surrounding field.
The large bi-fold doors look out over the Solway to the Cumbrian coast beyond making for some spectacular views and dramatic skies. When night begins to fall sit out on the patio, light the fire pit and watch the sun go down behind the Galloway Hills.
In the summer throw open the double bi-fold doors and let the outside in.
In the cooler months the electric heating will keep you toasty and cosy, curl up with a book or simply watch the world outside the window. With no wi-fii or t.v this is a space designed to get away from it all, set aside the pressures of modern life, a truly restful space with relaxation in mind.

Please email us today to discus availability  for 2021-22.
