"Our family of four stayed with Elizabeth Ann at the end of June. Our only regret was that it was only for one night. She was a gracious host and welcomed us to her home as if we were long lost relatives. Each room has so much character and are beautifully decorated. If you are lucky enough to be around when she is serving tea be sure to try her shortbread. Breakfast was more than we could have asked for. Elizabeth Ann goes out of her way to serve an amazing breakfast. From homemade scones and preserves, yogurt and fruit, cereals as well as made to order eggs, sausage, bacon and mushrooms. I am sure I am missing something as there was such a large selection of things to eat. I would highly recommend staying with Elizabeth Ann at Scaurbridge House. Fantastic place to stay, Georgian house on outskirts of Penpont with great access to the beautiful Scaur and Shinnel glens. Elizabeth Ann is the perfect host, breakfast was superb with great attentiont to detail: proper coffee (even by Italian boyfriend's exacting standards), rhubarb stewed with strawberries and orange, perfect scones including recipe and technique. E.A is a fount of knowledge, great fun, and can sell you pearls! Doggies made most welcome. Recommended. We stayed only for one night but it was the best place we stayed at in all of Scotland. Elizabeth Ann could not have been more welcoming, and bent over backwards to assist us in getting the most out of our stay. She even arranged to have a local museum opened particularly for us, so that I could further my search into the local history! The house itself is amazing: beautiful, comfortable and just an incredibly wonderful place to stay. I would heartily recommend it! The previous reviews are spot on for the the fabulous experience we had October 15, 2016. Our gracious, lovely host greeted us and we knew as we stepped over E.A.'s threshold that we had just met a new friend. Our room was beautiful, spacious, full of antiquities and oh so comfortable. Regretfully, it was just one night's stay. Dinner was a gourmet experience, locally sourced. Breakfast was equally fabulous, especially the homemade scones and jams. We apologize for having to rush off, as it would have been lovely to linger over all the wonderful food and have more spirited conversation. EA created two pearl necklaces, specifically for myself and our daughter. They are beautiful and will be a fond memory of our stay at Scaurbridge."
