Burnfoot Holiday Cottages

Burnfoot holiday cottages in the Scottish Borders are situated in the picturesque Eskdale Valley three and a half miles from the town centre of Langholm in Dumfries and Galloway. There is over a mile of fishing on the River Esk and guests are able to fish in season by prior arrangement. (A fishing licence is required). There are many beautiful walks in the hills and along the river.

The cottages, situated in the grounds of Burnfoot House are a conversion from a stable block built in 1852. The cottages vary in size from one to three bedrooms accommodating 2 – 7 people. They are all recently refurbished and have TV with Freesat channels, DVD players and full central heating throughout. Kitchens are equipped with an electric cooker, microwave and fridge. All bed linen and towels are provided. A washing machine, tumble drier and chest freezer are available on site for shared use. Mobile reception is variable but there is a Payphone available on site for general use.

Changeover days are flexible and there is no minimum stay, short breaks are always popular, particularly off season. Well behaved dogs are very welcome at no extra cost.

There is plenty of car parking, walking and fishing. For the nature lover and bird spotter there is much to discover – many wild flowers, deer, otter, red squirrel and kingfisher to mention but a few. A  handy pack with over a dozen lovely local walks is now available in order to make the most of the area.

Three and a half miles away in Langholm there are good shopping facilities for groceries and hotels for meals out. There are excellent galleries and gift shops for browsing. The Buccleugh Centre is a thriving Music and Arts venue with an varied programme throughout the year. Local cycling events have been increasingly popular in recent years.
