 Ravenstone Cottages, set in 14 acres of woodland offers an ideal retreat from today's hectic world. At the heart of the Machars Peninsula the cottages are a great base for exploring the beautiful unspoilt coastline, the Galloway Hills, the bookshops of Wigtown and the history of Whithorn. Together the cottages can sleep up to 10 people plus a cot in each.
Keeper's Cottage (sleeps 4-6)
Newly refurbished it has a bright airy farmhouse kitchen with Aga, sunny dining room with fireplace and living room with original 1850s features.
There's a downstairs double room and a shower room. Upstairs is a large double master bedroom, a twin bedroom, small children's play room - which can have a cot for babies - and bathroom. Bedding, towels, electricity included, fuel for the Aga is extra.
Ravenstone Mains Cottage (sleeps 4)
A modern country cottage with a microwave, dishwasher, tv and vcr providing the creature comforts, while two wood stoves add atmosphere (and heat if needed).
Two bedrooms (one double, one twin) are situated upstairs and overlook the former Stables courtyard. The bathroom has a bath with powerful electric shower. Bedding, towels and electricity are all included in the price. Only fuel for the stoves is extra.
The cottage is also a short drive from the award-winning Ravenstone Deli in Whithorn. Here you'll find fresh fruit and vegetables, homemade bread, deli meats, vegetarian and vegan products, olives, a huge array of artisan cheeses - everything needed for a week of picnics or elegant dining in one shop. No need to stock up before you leave, it's all here.
Breakfast hampers for your first morning can also be provided - £24 for 4-6 people.
