Two spacious holiday cottages have great character and charm, graded excellent by Visit Scotland. Peace, privacy, fun and exploration abound at Orroland.
Cutlar’s Lodge and Abbotsway Cottage are set in the heart of Orroland Estate which enjoys panoramic sea views over the Isle of Man and the Cumberland hills. Each holiday cottage is set within its own landscaped grounds surrounded by acres of prime grazing farmland. They are each others nearest neighbours, 5 minutes walk apart. Orroland is between Dundrennan and Auchencairn, a mile off the A711 coast road to Kirkcudbright and has it’s own private drive 3/4 mile long.
Abbotsway Cottage is a one-storey stone build cottage set apart up its own drive and offers particularly spacious accommodation for 7 people in a double, single and family room with twin beds and bunks.
Cutlar’s Lodge is just a stone’s throw from the wild flower meadow and private loch. It accommodates 6 people in a double and two twins over two floors.
Both holiday cottages are graded for quality by VisitScotland and offer 4 star comfort (4 stars means ‘excellent’).
Both holiday cottages have a games room with table tennis and pool table, in addition to the enchanting grounds where there is plenty of space and freedom for all ages to enjoy exploring. Each cottage has a fully enclosed area providing safe freedom for children and dogs.
Open fires are a treat after a day of exploration and unlimited central heating in the winter makes the cottage comfortable and cosy.
Many of our guests are couples who enjoy plenty of space and a special price for 2.
A holiday at Orroland is good for the soul, peaceful and private with a touch of Famous Five adventure!
Abbotsway Cottage is 25-minutes walk and Cutlar’s Lodge 20-minutes walk to the private rocky shoreline of Orroland Bay. Here there are rock pools to explore and huge flat rocks providing a base for picnics. There are several sandy beaches within 30-minutes drive including Redhaven, Sandyhills, Brighouse Bay, Mossyard and Carrick. Crabbing in Orroland Bay or in Kirkcudbright harbour is great fun. Kirkcudbright is just 15 minutes drive away. Loch Ken (30 minutes drive) has an excellent activity centre with activities on water and land, and a waterski centre.
